ADRIANO MAGAZINE

September 2025

These lyrics from the famous song by Italian 80s pop duo Righeira are perfect at this time of year, when I come home after my holidays and start planning for the autumn, because their English translation is “Summer’s coming to an end and another year is over”. We’re really busy, having just bottled the new vintage of Nebbiolo (2024), emptying another tank in preparation for the next one. The watchwords in the cellar are “clean and tidy” and the same goes for the vineyard too. Everything’s almost ready for the start of the grape harvest.

I don’t know how many of you feel the same as I do, but I’ve always found the end of August to be a bit like the end of December, a moment for reflecting on what I’ve achieved, thinking about the year ahead and making resolutions. When I was little, I used to do it for the start of the new school year and, living above the cellar, I was already fully immersed in the characteristic atmosphere of the grape harvest that surrounds me now. When it comes to the grapes, we really do have to weigh up what we’ve done during the year, looking back at the weather we’ve had and at how well we managed the vineyard, hoping that these last weeks of work go well and that the grapes we bring into the cellar will be excellent in terms of quality, enabling us to express – as always – our terroir in the best way possible.

The grapes seem to be really good so we’re happy, and I can’t wait to start harvesting them, although – if I’m honest – I CAN’T WAIT TO FINISH! Don’t get me wrong… I love the grape harvest. Everyone working together, full of adrenalin, not much sleep, too much work and so much satisfaction. But a couple of days living at this pace, with every possible emotion running through my veins, is enough for me to start wishing it was all over and done with!

We’ve almost finished harvesting our hazelnuts and, unfortunately, it hasn’t been a good year for the “Tonda e Gentile delle Langhe”. The yields are very low and we’ve had to work hard to select only the very best. As a result, we’ll only have a limited amount during the months to come, but at least we know they’ll be just as good as ever.

September heralds a wide variety of events and, as you know, we like taking our wines to the various venues that host them. But keep your eyes open because - SPOILER ALERT- we’ll also be hosting a great event of our very own this autumn!

I’ll be back in touch after the harvest and, in the meantime, if you’d like to come and visit, I’ll let you taste the must!

See you soon
